Welcome to Embrace the Deception. This site is all about learning to spot lies and detect deception. It’s estimated that we are lied to anywhere from 10 to 200 times per day. On average, people tell two to three lies in a ten-minute conversation. With numbers like that, it’s clear that we’re not going to be able to avoid being lied to, so instead, we Embrace the Deception and learn how to detect it.

Many of the lies we hear everyday are just white lies that don’t really mean anything. Many lies are told to be polite and to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. Other lies however are more serious.

If you’re a police interrogator, you want to know if the person sitting in front of you is telling the truth. If you are hiring a new employee, you want to know if you’re getting truthful answers to your interview questions. And for all of us, in our everyday lives, learning how to detect deception can be very valuable. Is your mechanic, plumber, electrician, or other contractor telling you the truth, or are they trying to rip you off? In negotiations for a new home or a used car, are you getting a good deal, or are you being taken advantage of? Learning to detect deception is like developing a superpower that can really help you avoid being the victim of unscrupulous people.
